Project requirements

AP Technologies Group delivered security and networking scope for IGA at North Richmond. The full case study is being prepared for publication, and this page will be updated with the system detail, site photography and outcomes once it is complete.

The sections below describe how we scope and run supermarket work of this kind. Requirements always start with the store: what needs to be seen, what needs to stay online, and what the team needs to be able to do themselves.

Security & networking scope

When security and networking sit in the same scope, they are designed together rather than bolted to each other. Cameras, recorders and point-of-sale all depend on the same switching and cabling, so the network is sized for what the security system will actually put on it.

Running both under one contractor also removes the gap where responsibility usually gets lost. There is no argument about whether a fault is a camera problem or a network problem.

Installed systems

A combined retail scope typically covers CCTV coverage, structured cabling, switching and Wi-Fi, configured as one system with one set of documentation.

Project delivery

Supermarkets keep trading while we work, so installation is staged around the trading day: early starts, after-hours windows and quiet periods, with the floor left clean and safe at the end of every visit.

Cabling is tested and the network is configured before the security system goes on it, so commissioning is a verification step rather than a fault-finding exercise.

Results

Every system we hand over is tested on site and demonstrated to the store team, with live viewing, playback and everyday use covered before we leave. Results and client feedback from this project will be added once the case study is published.
